This is a cool video that provides statistics about technology, the rise in social media, and how we get information. All of this is very important to job seekers for a few reasons:
- These changes affect the means by which companies obtain information about job candidates and make hiring decisions.
- Job seekers are expected to have more knowledge about a company and their specific needs because the information is available online — if people look for it.
- The methods that job seekers use to find a job have changed significantly from even five years ago because of advancing technology and social media.
- Some industries are changing dramatically. If you are in an industry that is experiencing a downturn because of these changes, how can you use the skills and knowledge you have to be relevant today? How can you further develop your skills and/or expand your knowledge base to keep pace or even get ahead of the curve?
As the video said, “These changes are affecting the way people behave. Are you ready for the future?”

I missed this one, Melissa and it is so very good! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Julie! It’s amazing how far technology has come already — who knows where it will be even five years from now and the implications it will have on so many facets of life?
