Get It All Down

Once an interview is done, you can breathe a sigh of relief, but your work is not done yet. You still have the task of writing a thank-you note to your interviewers.

One thing that can make that process easier is to write down some thoughts after your interviews. Things like what each interviewer talked about, important aspects of the job that were discussed in the interview, and general impressions all should make it into the notes.

By capturing these thoughts immediately after the interview, everything is fresh in your mind. When you sit down to write the thank-you notes, you have your post-interview notes as a ready reference for what happened. It just makes the post-interview process much easier.

If you wait to get home to get your ideas on paper, you may forget key details or who said what. Writing customized thank-you notes to each interviewer will be more difficult if you don’t remember important details.

Do you take notes after your interviews? How does it work for you?
